A Glimpse of Gospel Hump Wilderness
A while back, in the last week of June, my wife and I left all our work behind and hopped in our Cherokee for a drive. We ended up in the Gospel Hump Wilderness. What a beautiful drive! They say it is home of the highest mountains in Idaho north of the Salmon River and east of the higher Bitterroots on the Montana border.
The roads are enough to make you glad you brought a Jeep. This is one of the better parts of the road.
This is Upper Gospel Lake. I call it “Mini Crater Lake”. I thought about hiking down to the water but in the end, I chose life….
This is a view of Lower Gospel Lake. You can get this view from the road.
We started down the trail to the lower lake but we were running out of daylight and had to turn back.
There were these blankets of flowers everywhere.
We knew we were pretty high since it was a hundred degree day at home and up here we were seeing snow! We were around 7100ft. in elevation.
We were wishing we had more time to explore all the different trails and roads. It is definitely a place we will have to revisit.
